About Me

JCB

Julia Collman-Barnes, MS, LMHC, LPC

You can be doing everything you’re “supposed” to do and still wake up with that familiar heaviness in your chest. The kind that makes life feel more like a role you’re playing than something you’re actually living. If you’re tired of pretending you’re fine and want a space where you don’t have to perform, you’re in the right place.

Therapy with me isn’t stiff or scripted. It’s a real conversation—thoughtful, collaborative, and sometimes uncomfortable in the ways that actually lead to change. I don’t believe you’re broken. I believe you’ve adapted to circumstances that didn’t always give you what you needed, and those adaptations can be reshaped.

Outside the therapy room, you’ll usually find me with my dog or riding around with my husband, discovering different cultures one restaurant menu at a time. I value humor, curiosity, and warmth—and yes, laughter has a place in healing.

I’m a Licensed Mental Health Therapist in Florida and Connecticut with over 13 years of experience supporting adults and seniors through loneliness, life transitions, and the emotional weight that comes with change. While I’m trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I care far more about the human in front of me than rigidly following a model. Therapy should fit you, not the other way around.

Starting therapy can feel intimidating, and that’s completely okay. If you’re curious, let’s start with a free 15-minute consultation—no pressure, no commitment. Just a conversation to see if this feels like the right fit.
